Venice is located at the northern end of the Adriatic Sea having a group of 117 islands. What differentiates Venice from other cities is its 150 canals, connected by 500 bridges. It has everything a traveler can dream of, be it food, fashion, romance, shopping, churches, backstreets, deserted squares everything.
It also has a world famous The Grand Canal, lined with fine pubs, restaurants, shops, and obviously lots of people.
The only way of getting to this city is by Gondola or the water taxi. Motor vehicles are banned and cycles won’t be of much help. Traveling in Gondola can come heavy on your pocket, but its worth going for at least one ride.
Venice is a festival city, especially during the month of spring. It is crowded all over the year, but traveling between March-May may be bit enjoyable with fewer crowd. Traveling around the month of November can be unpleasantly cold.
Venice is marked by monuments such as St Mark’s Basilica and the Doge’s Palace at St Mark’s Square, which are world famous for innumerable paintings by artists such as Canaletto. It also has an art gallery officially called Galleria dell’ Accademia, which is famous for the its 14th century paintings.
