Italy, a boot-shaped south European nation, is surrounded by Monaco, France, Switzerland, Austria, and Slovenia, and lies extended into the Mediterranean sea. It is undoubtedly, one of the most visited and hottest tourist destination.
Italy is not just popular for its rich heritage and culture, but also for its food, fashion, and magnificence. No doubt this is why Italy is known internationally as the ‘The fashion Center of the World’.
Italy is one hour ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). The climate in Italy is by far the most favorable for travelers. There is general pattern of warm, dry summers and mild winters. However, there are wide regional variations. Summers are long, hot and dry, but with comforting sea breeze over the coastal part. The best time to visit Italy is between April to mid-June, or September to October.
In Italy, apart from Italian, there are regional languages as well. Communication in English is not hard to find but mainly in bigger cities.
As Italy is a part of EU, your local countries driving license works well in Italy for European Union citizens. However, for non-EU citizens, apart from having a local driving license for your own country of origin, it is also mandatory by law to hold an international driving permit (which are easily available).
Customs Regulations: Foreigners are free to import items 500 US$, and no declaration is generally required. There are usually no restrictions to export gift items purchased in Italy. The usual European Union regulations will apply to Duty Free goods being exported. However, antiques more than 100 years old require a special permission from the cultural ministry of Italy.
